This has informed our housing work for people with special needs in Romania and the People's Republic of China.

Party Wall etc Act 1996

We have many years of experience acting as Party Wall surveyors, and can provide expert advice on all party wall matters in a simple and clear way.

If you require Party Wall Act advice, we can offer the following services

1. If you are the building owner and are intending to carry out building works that might affect your neighbour/s

  • We can advise you on the correct procedure as laid down by the Party Wall etc Act
  • We can advise on whether or not the work is notifiable and which neighbouring properties fall within the scope of the Party Wall etc Act.
  • We can act on your behalf and serve the required Party Wall notices on your neighbour/s who might be affected by your proposed building works
  • We can prepare and agree a party wall award, or agreement, between you and your neighbour/s
  • We can produce a schedule of the condition of the neighbouring properties to ensure that you are not held responsible for any pre-existing defects.

2. If you are an adjoining owner and your neighbour is intending to carry out building works

  • We can advise you of your rights under the Party Wall etc Act
  • We can liaise with the Building Owner to ensure measures are taken to minimise the risk of damage to your property
  • We can act on your behalf during the preparation of the Party Wall Award, or agreement, and advise on how your interests can best be protected

We will set out our fee at the start of the project. Under the Party Wall etc Act, the developer is required to pay the fees of the Party Wall surveyors for both sides.

Many of our clients have older buildings, and in many cases these buildings are listed or in conservation areas. These are most often residential projects.

We have carried out a number of church projects, including a new hall at St James the Less in Stubbings, Berkshire. This project was commended in the Windsor and Maidenhead Awards. Our Principal, James Mather, is a quinquennial surveyor for the Diocese of London and a member of the URC North Thames Listed Buildings Advisory Committee.

Our commercial projects include a mixed-use scheme for commercial and student accommodation in Park Royal, London, plus warehousing, listed Georgian offices in Central London and a school for children with special needs in Hampshire.
